Self Cleaning filters sizing through DHC
TEST DESCRIPTION
DHC (Dirt Holding Capacity) is the quantity of contaminant, expressed in mg/m², that a filter fabric can trap at a given pressure difference. Tests were conducted on monofilament polyester fabric with filtration degree from 200 to 25 microns and sintered fibre felt in AISI316 with filtration degree from 20 to 1 micron. The filtering fabrics were cut to a given diameter and weighed, after which filtration of the contaminant was carried out under pressure. At a given pressure difference the fabric is removed, dried, and weighed again. The difference in weight before and after filtration gives the maximum amount of solids that the fabric can contain. The contaminant that we placed in the liquid to be filtered consisted of organic and inorganic particles. Its specific weight was around 1 Kg/dm³.
SELF CLEANING FILTERS SIZING
Thanks to the study done on the DHC of fabric and the particle measuring instruments already present in our laboratory since 2012, we are able to carry out accurate sizing of our self-cleaning filters.
